Large-scale sporting events, like the Olympic Games, not only boost the city’s economic activity and urban transformation, but also pose challenges that foster technological innovation. This phenomenon occurs in other facets of the sports industry, where it is becoming ever more common for sports teams and athletes to integrate technology into their daily routine in order to improve performance. This edition of the 22@Update Breakfast will feature Patrick Adiba, CEO of Atos Iberia - Olympics & Major Events, the company in charge of technological development for the management of the London 2012 Olympic Games, who will explain the technological challenges and opportunities that go along with managing large-scale sporting events. Afterwards, Xavi Esteve, INDESCAT, cluster manager, and Jesús de Pablos, founder of the company 1d3a, will present examples of technological innovation applied to sport. To finish up, Oscar Grau, director of the technical office for the Barcelona Pirineu 2022, bid, will explain what this event includes and what it would mean for Catalonia as a whole and for our city.
