The Catalan Audiovisual Council (CAC), the body that regulates audiovisual communications in Catalonia, moved into their new headquarters in the Barcelona Media Park on 26 July. This latest incorporation is the last of those expected to join the media cluster

The building, constructed by the Barcelona Zona Franca Consortium (CZFB), has a total aboveground surface area of 3,000 m2 and is located at 125-129 Sancho de Ávila Street, next to the Media-TIC building. This is a strategic location as the area is home to companies, institutions, universities, incubators and technology centers linked to the audiovisual world, with which the council hopes to forge synergies.

Speakers at the inaugural event included the president of the Government of Catalonia, José Montilla; president of the Catalan Parliament, Ernest Benach, and president of the CAC, Ramon Font. Other participants included mayor of Barcelona, Jordi Hereu, and the State delegate for CZFB, Manuel Royes.

The CAC is the independent authority that regulates audiovisual communication in Catalonia. One of its main aims is to make sure that audiovisual service providers comply with applicable regulations.
