22@Barcelona, as part of the Digital District initiative, has started "
Families online", a project aimed toward families with children in public school. This project gives parents access and training
to use computers so they can share with their children the opportunities and benefits of
new technology both at school and at home.
This initiative has presented workshops on “New technologies, education and family”, exclusively for parents, which explain problems that can arise related to protecting children on the Internet and young people’s dedication to their free-time activities.
Participating schools make their multimedia rooms available to students’ parents so they can practice.
So far,
29 primary schools and more than
400 parents from schools in the Sant Martí District have participated in this project.
