This Symposium has become an international benchmark for debate on models for urban clusters and technology parks in the knowledge economy. This year it will be held on the afternoon of Wednesday 16 June at the Barcelona Fairgrounds Congress Hall, as part of HiT Barcelona.

Richard Florida, one of the most prestigious intellectuals in the world, best-selling author of “The Rise of Creative Class” and “Who’s Your City?” and director of the Martin Prosperity Institute, will give the inaugural conference, entitled “Cities for Excellence”.

Other participants in the symposium will include vice-president of the International Association of Science Parks, Joan Bellavista, and president of The Competitiveness Institute, Alberto Pezzi, who will each moderate a round table on how to achieve a better connection between urban clusters and science parks. To close the symposium, Dr. Tea Petrin, president of the European Cluster Policy Group and former minister of Economy for Slovenia, will give a conference entitled “Clusters and parks for excellence”.
