Eight years after 22@Barcelona began the district now has 1,441 companies, which have created 42,000 new jobs. Mayor of Barcelona, Mr. Jordi Hereu, and deputy mayor in charge of Finance and Economic Promotion, Mr. Jordi William Carnes, took advantage of the Mayor’s visit to companies in the area to present the latest study.
The first quarter of 2009 was especially active for 22@Barcelona, having participated in an ICT event in Hamburg, the MIPIM real estate trade fair in Cannes and the innovation and technology bridge with the United States. Also noteworthy is the continued arrival of new companies to 22@Barcelona. The latest additions to the area are music technology company Reactable Systems and Balzac.Tv, from the audiovisual sector. Finally, we would like to point out that, starting 27 April, the district now has a new museum, the Vila Casas Foundation, which opened in the old Can Framis factory.
