Within the year 2006, the Observatory of Industrial Prospective for the Department of Industry and Energy (
OPTI), the
CIDEM and
22@Barcelona initiated the Cluster Diagnosis and Plan of Actions that followed the ‘Branding & Retail’ strategies in Catalonia. Such action was focused on the analysis of the textile sector - tailoring.
The goals of the Project were, among others, to figure out the growth strategies within the sector, as well as the companies in Catalonia that were following those strategies, to check on the main operative problems and strategic challenges of the sector and, most importantly, to delimit the necessary actions to follow in order to improve the competitive capability of the companies within the sector in a practical and effective way.
The
Branding & Retail cluster responds to the very clear necessity to face the decrease of production in the textile sector in our country and to put in motion the identified strategies for success. Year after year actions are being carried out, highlighting the fundamental aspects in order to achieve the last objective of favoring the strategic change on the sector, leading it into the consolidation of the brand and company distribution.
In particular, the identified strategic challenges on basis of which the actions are going to be put into motion are the following:

• Shop localization and management
• Worldwide shopping capacities and Logistical Management
• Brand management
• Internationalization
• How to finance the growth
