What is a cooperative educational contract?

A cooperative educational contract is a collaboration agreement between a University and a business/organization (regulated by Royal Legislative Decree 1497/81 and modified by Royal Legislative Decree 1845/1994), through which a student completes their education by doing an internship in the company.

A cooperative educational contract is an internship through which students acquire professional experience.

What are the conditions of the internship?

In order to participate in the program you must define the tasks the intern will participate in according to the following guidelines:

  • The contents of the internship must be directly related to the degree the student is studying at the University.

  • The length of the contract will vary depending on the university where the student studies. The longest will be 9 months and 960 hours.

  • The intern.s timetable must be compatible with their studies.

  • The company must assign someone from their organization to act as an advisor for the student during the internship.

· The program requires the company offer each intern a study grant. For non-curricular internships, the amount should be approximately 550 ./month.

  • The company, if they wish, can consider the internship a trial period, which may or may not affect the intern.s antiquity.

Can you do interviews?

Yes, as long as they are carried out within the established period. The company or institution must contact each student directly to request an interview.

Who authorizes the internship?

Each university will verify that the student meets the requirements established in order to sign the contract and send the Contract proposal to the dean or relevant department head for approval.

How much are the processing fees?

22@Barcelona will not charge any extra fees for the service they provide companies and organizations. All costs are subject to processing fees established by each university.

What are the responsibilities of the advisor?

The in-company advisor must be a qualified employee who will be in direct contact with the intern throughout their stay in the company. The advisor will evaluate the intern in their time at the company and report to their university periodically and participate in a final evaluation.

Can businesses and organizations from outside 22@Barcelona participate?

Yes, as long as they select a student from one of the universities located in the 22@Barcelona district. These universities are: the University of Barcelona, the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, the Pompeu Fabra University, the Open University of Catalonia and the BAU Design School.

How much should the intern be paid?

The company must compensate the intern for the work they do. This compensation will help make the student more responsible for their work and feel more a part of the company. For non-curricular internships the amount should be approximately 550 ./month.

What is a non-curricular internship?

Postgraduate course do not always include obligatory internships. However, as long as the student has a student visa they can enter into an internship contract through the university. In these cases the internships are considered non-curricular.
