A platform based on the territory and constituted by public and private companies and institutions has been created to originate and carry out processes of innovation of new services and products of mobile technology that the companies involved are interested in developing. This project is headed by 22@Barcelona in collaboration with Barcelona Digital Foundation, and is part of the European Network of Living labs, which includes cities and regions like London, Amsterdam, Helsinki, Copenhagen, Västervik, etc.
In Catalonia, the 22@Living Labs is also part of a network of various urban laboratories operated by both public and private groups, which aims to generate new mobile products and services based in ICT: the Catalan Network of Living Labs, led by i2cat with support from the Secretary for Telecommunications and Information Society, has members like the Sant Cugat Living Lab, the Mataró Living Lab, the Neàpolis Living Lab and the Cornellà Living Lab.
