Coinciding with the International Internet Day and the Poblenou May Festival, 22@Barcelona had a stand on the Rambla del Poblenou the weekend of May 17 and 18.
In order to celebrate International Internet Day, 22@Barcelona, as part of the Digital District project, organized an interactive electronic music workshop at their stand at the Poblenou May Festival on May 17 and 18. At the “Wireless Artist” workshop, hundreds of young people discovered the new Reactivision software created by a musical technology group at the Pompeu Fabra University. Reactivision uses small webcams connected to laptop computers to capture the user’s movements and convert them into electronic sounds. The software was also shown last year at the Sónar Festival 2007 in Barcelona. This way, over the weekend, the youngest residents of Poblenou experienced an exciting event that allowed them not only to interact with new technology but also to create their own electronic music using intuitive and totally innovative software. Digital DistrictThis initiative is part of the Digital District project, jointly sponsored by the 22@Barcelona municipal company and the Sant Martí District, which takes part in a number of actions designed to encourage residents from the district to take advantage of the opportunities that new technologies offer them to improve their well-being.
