Technology centres constitute one of the main structures of channelling between research and business and unfolding as a core element of support to innovation, both for small and medium– sized companies and for bigger ones.
Due to this reason, the 22@Barcelona project, in close collaboration with the Xarxa de Centres Tecnològics Centre d'Innovació i Desenvolupament Empresarial (CIDEM) of the Generalitat de Catalunya, promotes several initiatives to bring in the main centres of the sector in the most future projection fields for Catalonia and to foster their implementation in a nearby environment, with the goal of reinforcing the advantages of proximity and interrelationship between the different centres.
22@Barcelona district already lists or will do in the future some centres of public initiative such as Centre d’Innovació Barcelona Media, that is already running and basically promoting, developing and carrying out R+D+ projects for audiovisual companies; or the future ICT Technology Centre, aimed at ICT research. These centres will also live side by side with private initiative centres such as the future Centro de Investigación y Desarrollo Tecnológico ALSTOM, that will research in the urban and interurban railway transport sector field and the new R+D+i centre in telecom that Telefónica will sit soon.
